Rubber Activator
Classification :
PRODUCT DETAILS
The function of rubber activator is to significantly enhance the activity of accelerators, reduce the activation energy of vulcanization reactions, shorten vulcanization time, increase crosslinking density, and improve the processing and mechanical properties of rubber materials and finished products. Simple logic: The use of sulfur and accelerator alone has extremely low sulfurization efficiency, and only by combining with an activator system can efficient and stable sulfurization be achieved.
1. Inorganic activators
(1) Zinc oxide ZnO (universal activator) particle zinc oxide
Applicable: Most sulfur vulcanized rubber such as natural rubber NR, styrene butadiene SBR, butadiene BR, and EPDM;
Subdivision: Ordinary zinc oxide, active zinc oxide (small particle size, large specific surface area, stronger activation at the same dosage, suitable for thin products, high filling);
Additional features: white pigment, thermal conductivity, UV resistance, mold resistance, buffering agent.
(2) Magnesium oxide MgO
Specialized: chloroprene rubber CR, chlorosulfonated polyethylene CSM, fluororubber;
Function: Activating+vulcanizing agent+acid absorbing agent, preventing CR burning, improving heat and oil resistance;
2. Organic activators (fatty acids, carriers that dissolve inorganic oxides)
Stearic acid (SA, most commonly used)
Function: Reacts with zinc oxide to produce zinc stearate (soluble zinc soap), which dissolves zinc ions in rubber to complete the activation cycle; Adding zinc oxide alone has no activation effect;
